Experience the excitement of the coming winter season and join our Alaskan Huskies on a 7 km adventure through the beautiful early winter landscapes of Lapland.

At our cosy, family-owned husky ranch, you’ll meet your team of eager sled dogs and get an authentic glimpse into their training, daily routines, and life at the ranch as they prepare for the winter season.
Depending on the snow conditions, the safari is operated either with traditional dog sleds or specially designed carts.
With sleds: Adults drive the dog teams while children can enjoy the ride as passengers. Each sled accommodates 2–3 people.
With carts: Each cart accommodates 2–4 people. Our guides drive the carts, so you can simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
The drive lasts approximately 30 minutes. After the safari, we’ll gather around the campfire to enjoy hot drinks and hear stories about the huskies, dog mushing, and everyday life at the ranch.
There is also plenty of time to slow down and spend time with the dogs. Get to know your husky team, give them some well-deserved cuddles, take photos, and enjoy the company of these friendly, affectionate, and energetic dogs. This relaxed time with the huskies is an important part of the experience and gives you the chance to see their individual personalities up close.
This experience is a wonderful introduction to the world of dog mushing and offers an authentic, family-friendly way to enjoy the Lapland countryside. The safari is operated in an eco-friendly way, with no snowmobiles used during the experience.

To help you make the most of your time with us, we've gathered a few useful things to know before your adventure.

Possibility to borrow warm clothing if needed
Approx 30 min ride with sled or cart
Time to interact with the dogs, including petting and cuddling
Hot drinks and sweets by the open fire after the tour.

The pick/drop off from Äkäslompolo/Ylläsjärvi to Husky Ranch and back can be bought with an extra charge.

This activity is happening outdoors. Please wear warm and durable clothes. We have warm parka jackets you can borrow if needed. Please note that the activity is done by carts with wheels if we do not have the snow conditions for sledding. When driving carts, the guide will drive and the customers are sitting down and enjoying the drive.
