Experience a day as a musher! On this hands on tour you get to harness your own team of well-trained Alaskan huskies and drive (approx. 35-45km) through the snowy landscape.
We’ll enjoy a tasty campfire lunch in a private hut in the middle of nowhere during the tour. This 6-7h tour is always organized in a small group (max 5 pers.) or even as a private tour.
When you come to Husky Ranch Lapland you will be greeted by your guide and the other owner of the ranch, Juho. After driving instructions you are ready to meet your team of well-trained Alaskan huskies! You will follow the guide one after another, you are all driving your own sleds pulled by 3-4 dogs. The trail heads first south of the Kurtakko village, you take a peek at Europe's biggest wetland Teuravuoma and then you start heading east to old taiga forests.
At the halfway point it's time to take a good break. The dogs get their halfway price first - frozen meet snacks! After this you will be served delicious lunch by an open fire in our own wilderness hut!
When the break is over its time to head back to the kennel along a scenic route. After the safari you will also have time to cuddle and say goodbye to your lovable team mates!
This tour is suitable for active 15-65 years old people who like to work with dogs. Everyone is driving their own sled with a team of dogs. To drive the sled you need to be in good basic fit and balance. If you have any health issues please consult us before booking. Clothing sizes XS-XXL.
