On this active self driven half day husky safari (20-23km) You have the change to get a ‘hands on’ adventure. You will participate in harnessing the dogs and mush your own team of Alaskan huskies through the snowy landscape. Duration of the program is 3,5h with 1,5h drive.

You have the change to get hands on and participate in harnessing the dogs and mush your own team of Alaskan huskies through the snowy landscape. 3,5h program with 1,5h (20-23km) self driven husky tour including high quality thermal clothing and snacks and hot drinks by the campfire.

When you come to Husky Ranch Lapland (to our home) you will be greeted by your guides. First you will get a quality thermal clothing including parka jacket, pants, boots and mittens. After the driving instructions you are ready to meet your team of well-trained Alaskan huskies!

You can choose between:

  • Single sled: Drive your own sled and enjoy the full experience independently. ( Bit more demanding than the shared sled )

  • Shared sled: Share a sled with a friend and take turns driving. You can switch drivers halfway through the tour.

After the safari, we’ll gather around the fireplace beside the dog yard for a relaxing snack break with hot drinks and snacks.

There is also plenty of time to slow down and spend time with the dogs. Get to know your husky team, give them some well-deserved cuddles, take photos, and enjoy the company of these friendly, affectionate, and energetic dogs. This relaxed time with the huskies is an important part of the experience and gives you the chance to see their individual personalities up close.

We don't use any snow mobiles on the tour and it is organized in an eco-friendly way.

To help you make the most of your time with us, we've gathered a few useful things to know before your adventure.

  • The safari includes 

    • High quality thermal clothing, 

    • professional guiding in small group 

    • 20km sled ride ( approx 1,5h)

    • Sausages barbequed by the campfire in our laavu hut, hot berry juice, sweets after the tour

    • Time to interact with the dogs, including petting and cuddling

    • Pick up/ drop off from /to Äkäslompolo/Ylläsjärvi can be bought with an extra charge

    • Insurance in case of accute cancellation

  • Suitable for:

    • 15-65 years old

    • clothing sizes up to XXL

    • please let us know if there is any medical issues before the booking

    • Long underwear (merino wool recommended), 

    • warm socks (wool / technical, no bomul)

    • mid layer(s) (fleece or wool), 

    • Sunglasses / ski goggles depending on the amount of light

    • Liner gloves

    • Hand/toe-warmers if you are easily cold in your toes/fingers

  • We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 30 days or less before the event

    We will charge a cancellation fee of 20% if booking is cancelled 90 days or less before the event
